David Mars to serve as President-Elect

Our board has been notified that David Mars, who was representing the state of Virginia on our board, will be moving to the Tarheel State in a new position as Managing Director of The Umstead Hotel in Cary, NC beginning September 12.

While this means David is no longer eligible to represent Virginia on our board of directors, he has graciously accepted the position of President Elect and has received full board approval.

He replaces Jim Beley, who has been a longtime member of Southern and is a past president. Jim will be retiring at the end of August.

We wish Jim all the best in retirement!
